Insight into rapid testing, brainstorming and UI design
The challenge of the UX/UI jam was to create a new application from random cards, quickly test ideas and then present it in front of an audience.
As a participant at ITU Airlab’s UX/UI Jam 2023, we were tasked with picking random cards of what we had to build and combine. I picked podcast and social media and tasked myself to create an opportunity for podcast listeners to interact and engage in communities directly at the podcast platforms. In short, I created a couple of frames, helping me tell the story of how users can make clips of their favorite moments of podcast episodes.
In the end of the jam-session, I presented my idea and design in the end of the session and got feedback from a panel of professors and teacher assistants.
Taking heavy inspiration from existing apps and combining them in a way that has not been done with podcasts, I created a concept with features that has already been tested on other major platform.
My idea of combining podcasts and social media features, revolved around creating strong community groups. Listening to podcasts is for most users a way to relax and remove yourself from otherwise social situations like commuting or going to the gym. However, I thought there could be potential for users wanting to connect over certain elements or sections from the individual episodes.
Taking heavy experience from Twitch, Soundcloud and Youtube, I combined some of the features I thought had the best potential to create community feeling. With my design, users can highlight bits from podcast episodes and add their own comments to these. Other users will then be able to further interact with these comments/bits. With this desing, my hope was to inspire listeners to explore new podcasts and quickly be able to connect with new communities.
